Peperomia

(P. argyreia, P. clusiifolia, P. caperata, P. obtusifolia, and other varieties)

Peperomias are vigorous plants that are prized for their thick, fleshy leaves. Their foliage is highly ornamental, and depending on the variety, can be smooth, textured, or variegated, and come in an array of colors, shapes, and sizes. These slow-growing, low-maintenance houseplants are great for both beginners and seasoned plant enthusiasts.

Allow the soil to dry 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down, before watering thoroughly. Water until excess water flows from the container’s drainage hole. Do not allow your plant to sit in standing water or soggy soil. Signs of overwatering can include black stems or yellowing leaves.

A majority of Peperomia varieties can tolerate high or low humidity levels.

Peperomias tend to be compact and slow growing. They seldomly reach more than 12-inches in height, making them a great houseplant option for desks, shelves, tabletops, and more.

Fertilize once a month during the spring and summer months with a diluted, water-soluble, balanced fertilizer.
