Elephant Ears
Planting Instructions
Plant elephant ears outdoors when soil temperature is 60 degrees or warmer. Night temperatures should be 55 degrees or higher.
Elephant ears perform well in sun to bright shade and prefer a deep, rich, evenly moist soil.
This plant thrives in hot, humid locations. Avoid windy, dry locations.
Plant your bulb so the top is barely showing on the surface. Confused about which way is up? For the upright elephant ear, the narrow-tapered end is the top. When in doubt, place the bulb sideways and your elephant ear will find its way to the top!
Keep your elephant ear well watered all summer long. Fertilize once a month with Family Tree Nursery Controlled Release Fertilizer.
Dig your bulbs before first fall frost and store in a dry, warm, dark location. Clean and store in dry peat moss or vermiculite at about 60 degrees.
