Anthurium andraeanum, often referred to as Flamingo Flower or Laceleaf, is one of the most exceptional and recognizable houseplants. This plant is admired for its glossy heart-shaped foliage and colorful leaves (referred to as the spathe) that produce a yellow tail-like spadix tightly packed with tiny flowers. Aside from the Peace Lily, Anthuriums are the most reliable indoor blooming plant and have the potential to bloom year-round. These are desirable plants for décor, and they make lovely gifts.

Performs best in bright, indirect light.

Allow the soil to dry 1/2 of the way down the container before watering thoroughly. Water until excess water flows from the container’s drainage hole. Do not allow your plant to sit in standing water or soggy soil.

Anthuriums like humid conditions. The use of a pebble tray or humidifier may be beneficial.

These are slow-growing plants that only require repotting every two years or so. 

Fertilize once a month during the spring and summer months with a diluted, water-soluble, balanced fertilizer.

Causes digestive distress if ingested.

Remove fading or dying flowers to help the plant center its energy on new growth.
