There are nearly 100 recognized species, many of them used as houseplants. Tropical Alocasia plants boast some of the most striking arrow-shaped or heart-shaped leaves and add a stunning sculptural appeal to any space. These unique plants require a bit of a green thumb but are well worth the effort. |
Allow the soil to dry 2/3 of the way down the container before watering thoroughly. Do not allow the soil to rest in standing water. Some varieties can be sensitive to minerals found in tap water and may benefit from distilled or filtered water. Reduce watering to about once every two to three weeks during winter dormancy.
