Harvest flowers for arrangements early in the day when it’s coolest
Dried herbs are more potent than fresh herbs. When using fresh herbs: triple the amount that you would use dry.
Snails and slugs love thick, fleshy foliage – especially Hostas. Use diatomaceous Earth, crushed eggshells or copper wire to surround and protect susceptible plants.
Plants with many flowers, like Lobelia or Coreopsis, benefit from periodic shearing to encourage reblooming.
Plant tomatoes deep. The bumpy nodes will root and give your plant a better start and more fruit!
Buy several rain gauges and place around your yard. You will know how much water beds are really getting.
Try adding Soil-Moist crystals to containers for some summertime watering relief.
Add fresh herbs toward the end of cooking. Heat can destroy the true flavor of the herb.
Sage is a beautiful addition to your perennial bed. It looks good in a combination pot, too!
Parsley makes a great companion to roses! It is said to repel pests while improving their health and scent.

Dust inoculant on your peas and beans to provide some needed nitrogen and boost your harvest.
Make sure to plant corn on the North side of your garden so you don’t shade the rest of your vegetables.
If you have limited yard space plant strawberries in a strawberry pot and place it on your porch or patio.
We carry a large variety of herbs all year round… so you can enjoy the fresh taste of herbs in your winter dishes, too.
All herbs need good drainage! Family Tree Potting mix is the perfect medium for growing herbs in containers.
